Skylight | Roof Windows | Skylights

Welcome to our Skylights category, where we illuminate your world by bringing the beauty of the sky right into your home. Skylights are an exceptional way to enhance natural light in your spaces, contributing to energy savings and improving your well-being by connecting you with the outdoors. Our extensive collection of skylight products suits a wide array of preferences and architectural needs, from traditional skylight to innovative solutions like skylights Velux, and dome skylights. Let’s explore the different types of skylights available and guide you in selecting the perfect one for your space.

Types of Skylights

Fixed Skylight

Fixed skylight is the go-to choice for those seeking to increase the natural light in a room without the need for ventilation. These are ideal for high ceilings and areas where light is the primary requirement. Our range includes sleek designs with clear, energy-efficient skylight glass that seamlessly integrates into any roof.

Ventilating Skylight

Also known as roof windows, ventilating skylight can be opened to allow air circulation, making them perfect for kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas prone to humidity. With options like skylights and Velux, these models come with manual or electric opening mechanisms, ensuring ease of use and contributing to a healthier living environment by promoting air exchange.

Tubular Sky light

For smaller spaces or corridors where traditional skylights may not fit, tubular skylights offer an ingenious solution. These compact, highly reflective tubes channel sunlight from the roof to your interior spaces, providing a surprising amount of light given their size. They’re particularly effective in lighting up areas without direct roof access.

Dome Skylight

Dome skylight stand out for their distinctive shape and durability. Made from robust materials, these skylights are designed to withstand severe weather conditions while diffusing light more evenly throughout the room. Their dome shape is not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly practical, making them suitable for flat or low-pitched roofs.

Flat roof skylights

The flat sky lights are the best choice for flat roofs. They create an even flat surface so that there is no need to worry about leaks or thin spots which can cause problems over time.

1) Installation: One of the main reasons why flat roof skylight are preferred is because they can be installed without causing damage to flat roofs, because flat roofs are generally considered difficult to work on and hard to maintain. The flat roof skylight acts as a window into your home, bringing in much more light than any other type of skylight.

2) Durability: Because the flat roof skylight is made from tempered glass, it's impact resistant, meaning if someone were to accidentally drop something on it, the screen would not shatter into dangerous pieces. It can also withstand temperature changes and won't crack under the pressure of snow and ice, which flat roofs do not always hold up against.

3) Safety: The flat roof skylight comes with an inside safety handle so that if there were to be a storm outside, children or pets can be kept safe from potential debris or glass shards that might fall off due to wind. Tempered glass also works for this purpose because even if it does break, it will stay together instead of shattering all over the place, keeping everyone safer around it.

4) Energy Efficiency: On average flat roofs lose 50% more heat than traditional sloped roofs; but standard flat skylights only worsen this issue. The flat roof skylight has a layer of insulation built into the glass, keeping the heat in and saving money on electricity bills.

5) Reduces Noise: In cities where there are flat roofs, it is often very noisy because flat roofs amplify the sound from traffic and other city noises. The flat roof skylight can help reduce this noise by up to 50%, making it much easier to relax when inside your home.

6) Warranty: Most flat roof skylights come with a manufacturer's warranty that protects you in case something goes wrong with your product in the future, so that you will not have to purchase another flat sky light for a long time. All in all flat roof skylights offer many benefits over

Velux skylight

A velux skylight can be positioned vertically or horizontally. They are used to allow natural sunlight into an indoor space, and are particularly useful in rooms with multiple storeys where it would be impractical to install windows. The most common style of velux skylight is the manual- or hand-operated velux roof window which consists of a large window attached by hinges to one side of the ceiling frame, allowing it to rotate up and into the roof space when desired. The removable frame creates an opening in the ceiling through which light can shine. These windows also include adjustable venting options for air circulation purposes.

Which skylight for your home?

The best skylights for you will depend on the state of your roof and how much light you're looking to let in. Operable skylights are perfect for homes with low-pitch roofs that see little damage from tree limbs but hinged skylights still stand up well because their hinges can be removed if needed. Fixed skylights are less likely to shift, so they work best for homes where space is scarce and windows cannot be added. Before installing skylights it's important to check the insulation in your home, especially if you live in a cold climate since skylights can allow heat to escape during winter.

Selection Guide

Choosing the right skylight involves considering several factors, including your specific lighting and ventilation needs, roof type, and aesthetic preferences. Here’s a brief guide to help you make an informed decision:

For Enhanced Natural Light: Fixed skylight and tubular skylight are excellent choices. Select skylight with energy-efficient coatings to maximise light while minimising heat gain.

For Ventilation: This skylight is your best bet. Consider electric models with rain sensors for automatic closing in case of sudden downpours.

For Diffused Lighting: Skylight provides soft, evenly distributed light, ideal for areas where direct sunlight might be too intense.

For Unconventional Spaces: Tubular skylights can bring daylight to interior rooms and passages that traditional skylights cannot reach.

In selecting the appropriate skylight, also consider the orientation of your home, local climate, and the installation process. Some skylights, like those from Velux, offer additional features such as blinds for light control and solar-powered operation, blending functionality with sustainability.

Solar skylights rating & review

Solar skylight rely on solar energy to brighten up your home. These skylights come in a wide range of styles and designs, working to brighten any room in the house. Solar skylights for your home work just like any other skylight: they let in natural sunlight through a glass canopy so you don't have to deal with harsh, artificial lighting. But unlike standard skylights which draw power from the grid, solar skylights run off of energy collected by photovoltaic (PV) cells mounted on top of the skylight during daylight hours. The PV converts light into electricity that is stored in a battery.

For a skylight that uses solar power, you'll need to install a skylight that is outfitted with enough PV cells to collect maximum sunlight over a day. The skylight will also need an attached battery, which can either be installed directly into the skylight's canopy or mounted separately nearby. In addition, wiring from the skylight must be connected to your home's main electrical panel so it can draw energy from the grid when there isn't enough sunlight for the skylights to function on its own.
